Analemma

Analemma is an orthographic projection of the sphere, made on the plane of the meridian, the eye being supposed to be at an infinite distance, and in the east or west point of the horizon. The Analemma of Ptolemy explained a method of representing on one plane different arcs of the sphere of the heavens by means of a projection. The analemma became linked with dialing, astrolabes and map projection.
